Traveling Electrical Apprentice

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work will consist of installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the commercial, industrial and residential electrical industry.
  • Assist electricians by performing tasks under the direct supervision of an electrician actually installing the work and handling bulk of materials. This employee should keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion and keep the work area clean at all times. Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of language, terms and skills in use of tools on the job.
  • Product quality of work equal to the job requirements and Company Standards.
  • Produce quality work that meets or exceeds National Electrical Code requirements.

Job Duties can include, but are not limited to:

  • Gather tools and supplies to be used at work site.
  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit.
  • Trace out short circuits in wiring.
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as wiring, conduit, and motors.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and keeps supplies and parts in order.
  • Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Help in securing, relocating and organizing materials, small tools, and equipment from and back to appropriate storage areas.
  • Keep work area clean by collecting and disposing of scrap, excess materials, and refuse.
  • Assists in pulling wire, lifting, hoisting and positioning materials.
  • May operate hand tools and equipment under direct supervision of a Foreman or more senior electrician.
  • Assists in mounting and strapping conduit.
  • Assists more senior personnel in electrical installations, connections, and terminations under close supervision.
  • Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.

Basic Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of Industrial/ Commercial Electrical Experience
  • Must have a current and valid Driver’s License
